Hokkaido Rail Pass
(foreign tourists only) The Hokkaido Rail Pass allows foreign travelers enjoy unlimited rides on all JR Hokkaido lines. Apply for the pass at designated places before leaving your country or during your travels here.

Hokkaido Single Pass & Hokkaido Pair Pass
The Hokkaido Single Pass and Hokkaido Pair Pass offer 7-day (not valid in peak seasons) unlimited rides on JR Hokkaido trains, including Limited Express and Express trains, as well as on the Kaikyo Line 海峡線 (between Kikonai 木古内町 and Nakaoguni 中小国) and JR Hokkaido buses.

Peak seasons: from May 3 to 5, from August 13 to 16, and from December 29 to January 4.

Sapporo-Otaru (小樽) Welcome Pass
(foreign tourists only) This pass, allows unlimited rides on JR Hokkaido trains between Sapporo and Otaru and on all subway lines in Sapporo for 1 day (1,500Yen) without additional charges. Single trip between Sapporo and Otaru costs 620Yen and takes 32 minutes.

JAPAN RAIL PASS
(foreign tourists only) For travelers from abroad wishing to move from Hokkaido to other parts of Japan for a nationwide journey at an easy pace. JAPAN RAIL PASS cannot be purchased inside Japan. You must purchase an Exchange Order from an authorized sales office or agent before you come to Japan.

Where to buy the Hokkaido Passes
Traveller can buy the Hokkaido Rail Pass, Hokkaido Single Pass, Hokkaido Pair Pass, and Sapporo-Otaru Welcome Pass at the following places:

• JR Hokkaido Visitors Information Desk at JR Sapporo Station West Exit or New Chitose Airport Station, or at
• Travel Service Center (Twinkle Plaza) in Sapporo, Asahikawa, Hakodate, Kushiro or Obihiro

You can buy a PASS at your coountry before you visit Japan.

• You need to purchase a JR HOKKAIDO RAIL PASS Exchange Order from an authorized sales agent.
• Present your Exchange Order and obtain your JR HOKKAIDO RAIL PASS after you arrive in Japan

How to make seat reservation

• Seat reservations can be made without additional payment.
• To make a reservation, go to any Travel Service Center or a Reservation Office (Midori-no-madoguchi, Green Window) at a JR station, or to
• the sales office of a JR-associated travel agency. There, show your PASS, and obtain your reserved-seat ticket before boarding.
• A non-reserved seat can be used simply by presenting your HOKKAIDO RAIL PASS.
• Seat reservations cannot be made before you receive the PASS in Japan.
• When seats are fully reserved, you should use a non-reserved seat. In this case, no refund can be made of the price difference between a reserved seat and a non-reserved seat.

Note: Do not use an automatic ticket-reading gate with a JAPAN RAIL PASS or a reserved-seat ticket. Please show the PASS at a manned ticket gate.
